The quality and condition of the reflector — along with the UV lamp — are key factors in determining the efficiency of the curing process. When drying problems arise, people often replace only the UV tube. Soiled reflectors can lead to a reduction of the effective energy of up to 55 to 75%!
Heat, ink, dust, powder, improper cleaning, and much more leave signs of wear on the reflectors. The reflectors become dull and lose their reflective power. From a mechanical standpoint, however, the reflectors are not damaged. They can be be refurbished!
Prevent the undesirable consequences of contaminated reflectors:
- Insufficient drying of ink/varnish
- Thermal issues in UV systems
- Heating of substrates
- Reduced production speed
- Decreased production reliability
- Increased energy consumption due to full-load operation
Highlight UV offers original reflectors as well as affordable retrofits and refurbishment of original reflectors.
The reflectors with dichroic coating (DCB) are vapor-deposited with more than 50 layers of different metal oxides to achieve high reflectivity in the UV range and transparency in the visible range (for glass and aluminum mirrors) or additional absorption in the IR range (for blue metal mirrors).
